OURS (Organised Useful Rehabilitation Service) Program is an intervention of Ankole Diocese under the Ankole diocesan Synod, founded in 1995 to provide rehabilitation services to children with disabilities in the West and South West of Uganda. The Program was established with start up from a Christian Organization in Holland known as Evangelistic Omorep (EO) together with Ankole Diocese under the leadership of the late Emeritus Bishop Amos Betungura. The program gained momentum when CBM joined in partnership with Ankole Diocese in 1995.
OURS is a Community Based Inclusive Development(CBID) program, started by Ankole Diocese in 1995 and operates under Ruharo Mission Hospital.
Using the CBID approach and through community based structures, OURS identifies, assesses and supports CWDs to access different rehabilitation services provided at OURS or at our partner organizations across the country. Some of our key partners include CoRSU Hospital in Entebbe, Kataremwa Cheshire Home, Cure Hospital in Mbale and Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital.
Examples of physical and nuerological conditions that are worked on at or through OURS include post burn contractures, osteomyelitis, bow legs(Genu Varum), club feet(CTEV), cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus and many more.
OURS appreciates financial support from Christofell Blinden Mission (CBM), Child Help International, and Lilian Fonds through Kataremwa Cheshire Home.
Through these partnegships OURS clients are able to receive highly specialised rehabilitation services like recostructive surgery at a subsidised price. OURS target area is south western Uganda although some clients come from neighboring countries like Congo, Rwanda and Tanzania

Organized Useful Rehabilitation Services (OURS) exists to empower children with disabilities and their families in South Western Uganda through provision of accessible, holistic and affordable rehabilitation services to CWDs to participate fully in society with an enhanced quality of life. We highly appreciate our partners from within and outside for providing generously the resources that enables over 5,000 children benefit to from a wide range of rehabilitation services each year.
God uses OURS program to teach us many things and to accomplish his purposes in the lives of many. OURS programs have exposed many of the clients to a world beyond their disabilities and their eyes have been opened to see their true abilities. We have recorded many success stories about the rehabilitation journey of many of these clients where many of them are living examples about the wonderful work being done. This is possible because of the contributions from many of our partners, collaborators, stakeholders, parents and resilience from the children themselves. The journey and the burden towards inclusive rehabilitation is still an uphill task. The barriers to access of rehabilitation services are still many and the interventions will require even more concerted efforts.
It’s my humble call that God will stir our hearts to have the compassion to support Children with disabilities so that they too are able to enjoy the abundant life in Christ Jesus.
